GOLDEN GIRL WANTS A DIAMONDS RETURN
IF GC2018 Ambassador Laura Geitz makes the Australian Diamonds netball team for the Games, she will have a new little fan in her corner.
Geitz gave birth to son Barney in February last year and the 30-year-old defender is back training hard to give herself the best chance of selection.
Her GC2018 hopes are in the hands of the Australian coaching staff with an asset being over 50 Test caps for her country.
“I feel very lucky to have experienced and been a part of the things that I have been with netball,” said Geitz.
“I think it is really important to continue to challenge yourself, and even though Barney’s far too young to understand what I’m doing, I hope he looks back on my career and is proud of me for giving it a crack post-having him.”
Geitz has experienced plenty of highs throughout her career including back-toback national titles, two World Cup wins and Commonwealth Games gold in Glasgow 2014.
She has also felt the lows, including a loss to New Zealand in double extra-time in her first Commonwealth Games campaign in Delhi in 2010.
