Race purses on the rise
QUEENSLAND is ready to receive a boost with the announcement of new prizemoney levels.
Off the back of the Labor government’s pledge to fund country racing in the state, backdated to the start of this financial year, Racing Queensland is in a position to make changes to the existing prizemoney schedule.
It is expected new Racing Minister Stirling Hinchliffe will make an announcement, possibly today, on planned increases.
Mooted changes include an increase from $60,000 to $70,000 on Saturday races, with a focus on increasing prizemoney for minor placings.
Midweek racing is also set for a boost, in addition to a possible $5000 increase for provincial races.
