HE’S not the horse they initially wanted to buy but these Gold Coast mates aren’t complaining.

Jonker, the colt named after a famous diamond, is a top chance to reward them with the $1.2 million first prize in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Not bad for a $45,000 outlay. “We all chipped in and it’s been one of those things. We have been blessed and very lucky,” said part-owner Gary Mcpherson, of Paradise Waters.

Jonker is unbeaten after two starts and is $4.60 third favourite for the 2YO Classic.
