NightQuarter stallholder loses fight for life

- HANNAH SBEGHEN AND AMANDA ROBBEMOND

A POPULAR Gold Coast stallholder is being remembered as a sweet woman from a loving family after she lost her fight for life yesterday.

Joanne Busuttil, 45, suffered a cardiac arrest at Helensvale’s NightQuarter on Saturday. She died peacefully yesterday afternoon with her family by her side.

Loved ones paid tribute to Ms Busuttil yesterday, with messages such as “R. I. P Jojo”, and “so sad, her poor dad, such a lovely family”.

NightQuarter director Michelle Christoe said the market would be collecting donations to assist the woman’s family.

“We have been informed by the family that it was a pre-existing medical condition which led to the heart attack; not from heat stress as previously reported,” Ms Christoe said.

“The NightQuarter community of vendors and staff are devastated by the news and ask that you respect the family’s privacy and allow them to mourn in peace. We would like to thank our Senior First Aid Staff, Queensland Ambulance Services and the Medical team at Gold Coast Hospital who did all they could to try and save her.

“We will be raising money for the family next Saturday night at NightQuarter as a ges- ture to assist them at this time.”

Ms Christoe said a barrel would be at the front entry to collect donations.

Queensland Ambulance Service first assessed the woman as having heat stressrelated systems but it was found she was suffering from an underlying medical condition that caused a heart attack.
