BOY, WHAT A LET-DOWN
This Gold Coast woman is leading demands from fans for a collective refund of $60,000 for their VIP meetand-greet tickets.
THE famous lyrics of Boy George are ringing true for one heartbroken broken fan who paid hundreds to get a selfie with her idol at his concert last month.
Nicky Carney is convinced Boy George really did want to make her cry.
The Gold Coast woman – along with 60 other disgruntled fans – are now demanding a collective refund of $60,000 for their VIP meet-and-greet tickets.
The mother-of-two said the only thing she walked away with was a photo with Boy George and a group of strangers.
“I’ve been madly in love with this singer since I was 15 so to wait three hours and miss the opening act only to be snubbed and ushered away from him less than a minute after seeing him was really upsetting,” she said.
“He came across as rude and arrogant. I wish I never went.”
Mrs Carney said she was left feeling so upset she created a Facebook page called “Crop George” to reach out to the other hundreds of VIP ticket holders who were also rejected at his Australian concerts.
“I have spoken to 60 people from Brisbane and the Gold Coast who feel the same way, some of these people are already contacting the office of fair trading. They feel totally ripped off and scammed.”
The contracted events company, One World Entertainment, say they will give ticketholders who bought $800 VIP packages a $200 refund. Ms Carney said it doesn’t come close to covering the loss.
Ms Carney said more than 11 letters from ticketholders had been sent to the One World Entertainment company requesting a refund and complaining that VIP fans felt like “herded cattle”.
But they have been left in the dark.
“The package stated that we would get our individual photo but we were herded like cattle, told to have our backs against the wall in a single file,” one ticketholder wrote.
“Last time I checked it was a VIP experience, not a correctional facility.
“We would have been lucky to spend one minute for 10 people in the room with him. It was incredibly disappointing.
“For the few of us who actually got to meet him he was rude, arrogant and cruel.”
