HALCYON SWINGS INTO ACTION WITH $4M CLUBHOUSE
GAINSBOROUGH Greens Golf Course at Pimpama is poised to get its first new golf clubhouse in almost 30 years.
The $4 million facility, which is being paid for by over 50s lifestyle developer Halcyon, will replace the existing clubhouse, which was built in 1990.
Due to open next month, it includes a golf shop, bar, restaurant, function room, deck area and cart shed.
Halcyon will retain ownership of the clubhouse and surrounding land while the golf course operator will lease the facility from Halcyon.
Gainsborough Greens Golf Club part-owner and manager Paul Wiedman said the new building was a big improvement.
“It more than doubles our current capacity to almost 300 people across the restaurant, function room and outdoor deck area,” he said.
“Also, we finally have a dedicated function room that seats up to 140 people and we will also open the restaurant at night for the first time.”
Gold Coast-based Halcyon has built the new clubhouse as part of its $250 million masterplanned gated community, Halcyon Greens, adjacent to the greens.
The golf club is a key pillar of the 500-home flagship project, which is Australia’s first over 50s golf and lifestyle community.
All Halcyon Greens residents receive membership benefits at the Gainsborough Greens Golf Club until 2027.
Shane Denman Architects developed the design off the original ML Design concepts for the facility.
Architect Shane Denman said the new clubhouse has a contemporary edge as part of its core design features, giving in a modern urban feel.
“We’ve incorporated urban tones and finishes, highlighted by stackbond blockwork and vertical metal cladding, while extended cover decks take advantage of the great golf course views,” Mr Denman said.
“There is also a spacious function area that can be closed off from the bar and opens directly on to the outside terrace.”
