Best in state facing off
GOLD Coast will send a battalion of fleet-footed dynamos to the Sunshine Coast for today’s start of the Queensland Oztag Junior State Cup.
More than 8000 people are expected to hit Sunshine Coast Stadium for the three-day event, which includes 157 teams lining up across 15 fields.
Ranging in age from under-10s to under-15s in both boys’ and girls’ competitions, the 2500 players will also vie for selection in the Queensland Country or Queensland City teams for the Oztag Super Series in June.
Nerang will send under-13 and under-15 boys’ teams, with Coomera rolling out boys’ sides in the under-10s, under-12s and under-13s.
Miami has a side in each of the 12 divisions, with only an under-12 girls’ team missing for Labrador.
Tweed Coast has five teams.
