PROTECTION FOR PAWS

- ALEXANDRIA UTTING

Dog pad balm helps pooches deal with the effects of walking on hot concrete or sand

MAN’S best friend can now have the paw-fect protection from hot concrete or sand.

Currumbin local Stacee Sanderson, who owns frozen dog treat store Doggylicious, has branched out with a dog pad balm designed to protect your pooch’s paws from the elements and have your pet barking a contented bow-wow instead of ow-ow!

“It’s made from beeswax from Superbee Honeyworld, so it’s local, and it also has coconut oil, shea butter and orange incense that cools and soothes,” she said.

“I started researching because what people don’t realise is you might have your thongs on but your dog is on the road or the sand and they can get burned.

“Tradies who put them in the back of their utes could also use it to stop their dogs getting injured paws.”

The product, called Sand and Sun, creates a “breathable bond” with the pup’s paws.

“I popped it on my feet to test it in midday heat,” Ms Sanderson said.

“I ran down on the sand and it really does protect.”

Having only started selling the wax in the past two weeks, Ms Sanderson said customers had already being going barking mad for the tubs.

She said the product could also be used for older dogs to stop them slipping on wooden floors.

The wax is sold at the Doggylicious store at the Palm Beach Parklands.
