Groms go wacko for Jacko in feat wake

-

PALMY’S latest champion is 14-year-old Jacko Graham, who created club history by taking out the open and junior club championships for 2017.

He also won a round of the National Rip Curl Grom series and has inspired a new Palmy Army grom explosion.

“Young Jacko Graham is looking like he could be a major threat in all the future junior events,” said Dru Adler, a university digital media student who shares coaching duties with Palm Beach president Jamie Young.

“There’s a big group of young surfers who are hot on his heels such as Beau Smart, Joel Robinson, Cooper Gill, Tom Mclean, Jett Peterson, Cannon Cribb and Jackie Pheloung, to name a few.

“Kota Iita is an amazing Japanese surfer who has been going to school at PBC and recently graduated.

“Shoma Nishimura is another younger Japanese surfer who is also in the club and surfing really well.

“And we also have a young Brazilian ripper, Diego Cordeiro, so we definitely have an international flavour these days.

“We’ve had some crazy good results, winning tag teams and beating everyone, including Snapper and Burleigh.

“I think the club is on the path to gain more consistency but right now I think as long as we can keep on that good path, it’s only a matter of time before everything falls into place.”
