Seagulls go for Jobson to achieve club goals

-

THE Tweed Heads Seagulls have completed an exhaustive search by announcing former player Matthew Jobson as their new chief executive officer.

Jobson, formerly from Newcastle, takes over the role from Scott Clark at the Intrust Super Cup club.

Seagulls chairman Ian Paton said the new CEO was a standout among a field of wellcredentialed candidates.

Jobson was a professional rugby league player in Australia, the UK and France between 2000 and 2007.

At the completion of his playing career Jobson moved to the Gold Coast to complete a business degree and is enrolled in a master of business Administration at Bond University, at the same time working as a senior property valuer on the Gold Coast.

“It is rare that you find someone who, like Matt, has the academic experience and business acumen to run an Intrust Super Cup club but also understands what is required to build a successful rugby league program,” Paton said.

“Matt presented us with an ambitious but achievable vision to improve all areas of the club’s operations and we look forward to working with him to achieve that goal.”

Jobson takes over at the oldest provincial club in Australia.

“My vision for the club is to provide a genuine development pathway for rugby league players in our area from undersevens to the Intrust Super Cup and to the NRL,” he said.

Jobson will start with the club on February 12.
