REVAMP GIVES WINNING VIBE
VIBE Hotel Gold Coast in Surfers Paradise has had a multimillion-dollar refurbishment ahead of the Commonwealth Games in April.
The refurbishment began last August and included new interior designs for the hotel’s 199 rooms, as well as a newlook lobby and dining establishment Driftwood Social.
Asia-based Shangri-La bought the 19-level building, which occupies a 4679sq m site at 42 Ferny Ave, for $46 million in late 2015.
The riverfront building is managed by TFE Hotels.
TFE Hotels boss Rachel Argaman said the revamp made Vibe a desirable place to stay for the Games.
“The Games are set to give the region’s tourism industry an unprecedented boost, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors to the city over a short period of time,” she said.
“It’s a great opportunity for guests to discover everything Vibe Hotels has to offer.
“We want to make the most of the opportunity, presenting the hotel in the best possible light.”
The colour palette of the refurbished rooms “represents the transitional journey from the Hinterland, through sand and surf out to the turquoise waters and beyond”, according to TFE Hotels.
It says the lobby’s design is inspired by the classic beach house with traditional panelled walls decorated with Malibu boards and surfboard inspired furnishings centred around the driftwood reception counter.
Driftwood Social has been designed with a “retro Miami pool club feel”.
Vibe, which is held via Sunny View Property, was sold in 2015 by Tobar Hotel Investment No 2, a vehicle for Barana Group and Toga Hospitality, linked respectively to Greg and Kath Shand and Ervin, Gary and Allan Vidor.
