Bond continues to build with Slipper on board

-

BOND University have made a high-profile addition to their rugby union board with the appointment of Wallabies prop James Slipper.

The Gold Coast product did not hesitate when approached by Bond Uni rugby chairman Manny Pohl.

“I wasn’t expecting it but I knew immediately that it was a great opportunity and I had to grab it with both hands,” Slipper said.

“Not only does it provide me with the chance to get more involved with the rugby club but also to give back to the game that I love and that has given me so much.

“I think that I can bring to the board a player perspective based on my experience at a grassroots, club and professional level.

“I’m really looking forward to being able to share my insights from on and off the field and bouncing ideas around with the other members of the board and club.

“It is hugely important that we continue to invest in the club and the game to ensure we have a strong rugby presence on the Gold Coast and beyond.”

Slipper’s presence is a crucial addition, says Pohl.

“It is really important to have a player viewpoint in the decision-making process and future direction of the club,” he said.

Slipper has long been an example of the pathway from playing rugby on the Gold Coast to making the elite level.

The club’s premier grade player of the year trophy has already been named after the 28-year-old.

He immediately joins Terry Jackman, Bob Gordon, Matt Windle, Brian Hain and Selena Tranter on the Bond board.
