Coast firms bounce back

SHARES in Gold Coast listed companies rallied yesterday after losing up to 7.48 per cent of their value in a global rout which wiped $66 billion from the Australian market.

Australian shares overall clawed back about $17 billion as Asian markets recovered from the impact of a three-day meltdown on Wall Street.

Locally, from a high of $3.92 on Monday, Mantra Group shares dropped 0.765 per cent to close on Tuesday at $3.89, where they remained last night.

BPS Technologi­es fell 5.155 per cent to 46c on Tuesday and dropped another cent yesterday to 45c – its second lowest value in a year. On Tuesday G8 education fell 3.012 per cent to $3.22, but had improved to $3.25 by close yesterday.

RFG recovered from a 3.684 per cent drop to $1.83 on Tuesday to $1.85 yesterday.

National Veterinary Care fell 2.712 per cent to $2.87, but closed yesterday at $2.90; Sunland dropped 4.843 per cent to $1.67, recovering yesterday to $1.72; VillaWorld lost 1.544 per cent to $2.55, but rallied yesterday to $2.62. Shares in Dreamworld’s parent company Ardent Leisure fell 4.315 per cent to $1.885 on Tuesday, but rose yesterday to $1.92.

Rival theme parks operators Village Roadshow Ltd dropped 6.176 to $3.19, but had recovered to $3.27 at market close yesterday.

Eureka Group fell 6.061 per cent to 31c on Tuesday, recovering to 32.5c yesterday. Racecar engineerin­g company PWR Holdings shares dropped 7.48 per cent to $2.35, but rallied to a healthy $3.25 yesterday.

Shares in casino operator Star Entertainm­ent Group dropped 5.031 per cent to $6.04 but lifted to $6.26 yesterday.

Billabong shares were stable at 97c on Tuesday and lifted slightly to 97.5c yesterday.

Shares in mining company Cudeco bucked the trend and rose 2.439 per cent to 21c on Tuesday, and rose further yesterday to 22c. Icon Energy shares fell 4 per cent to 2.4c on Tuesday and closed another 8.33 per cent lower at 2.2c at market close yesterday.
