A FEW of the city’s mostloved faces have signed up to spruik their home town in Destination Gold Coast’s biggest campaign of the year.

Launching today, the Keys to the Coast competition will see the likes of world champion surfer Joel Parkinson, singer Amy Shark, Olympian Sally Pearson, lifesaving legend Trevor Hendy and TV starlet Natalie Gruzlewski promote a “money-can’t-buy experience” during the Commonwealth Games.

The $30,000 prize includes five nights in a fully-stocked luxury beach house, tickets to the opening ceremony, return flights and $5000 spending money.

Gold Coast Tourism chief marketing officer Jan Hutton said “salt-of-the-earth locals” were at the heart of the promotion, which centred on social media users sharing content to increase their chances of winning the holiday for them and three friends.

“This campaign is really about working with key influencers who are locals,” she said.

“They tell their own personal Gold Coast stories, why they believe the Gold Coast is so remarkable. Trevor is passionate about surf clubs and surf culture. Natalie talks about her guide to shopping.

“We’ve used salt of the earth locals to bring different GC experiences to life.”

Ms Hutton said the campaign, which will run in Australia and New Zealand until March 20, was tipped to attract more than 100,000 entrants.

“The more you share our content, the more it increases your chances of winning … so it creates a ripple effect of viral activity as the campaign spreads,” she said.
