LIGHT RAIL STATIONS
● Services will run 24/7 during the Games. Southport’s several stations are expected to be particularly busy, particularly before and after events. Try to avoid travelling by light rail at the busiest times. If you do have to, allow plenty of extra time and be prepared for queuing.
OTHER IMPACTS
● The marathon road event on Sunday April 15 will impact various parts of Surfers Paradise.
SURROUNDING SUBURBS
● Chevron Island, Isle of Capri and Main Beach will be busy thoroughfares for locals, tourists, athletes and officials during the Commonwealth Games.
● Long delays are expected through these areas during peak times in the morning, afternoon, evening and even later into the night.
● Parking restrictions of two-hours are active 24-hours in these areas, so motorists are reminded it is not a good idea to park in these suburbs for an extended period of time.
● Locals will have the added bonus of being walking distance to the action, with Festival 2018 events held in Surfers Paradise everyday of the Commonwealth Games.
