DEPENDABLE NO.1 JUST WHAT DOCTOR ORDERED
RELIABLE. It’s an underrated trait that any NRL coach can’t get enough of, and a word that sums up Michael Gordon to a T.
The veteran is safe under the high ball, a threat in attack and a terrific goalkicker.
Gordon is a Tweed product through and through who has gone on to do his region proud, carving out a successful career that is about to enter its 13th season after stints at Penrith, Cronulla, Parramatta and Sydney.
Despite the fact he turns 35 in October, Titans fans are genuinely buzzing about the man who will replace Jarryd Hayne in the club’s No.1 jersey.
For a fleeting moment, Hayne looked like he would be the saviour, only for his Titans narrative to head down a familiar path of an underperforming highprofile star grabbing headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Gordon on the contrary is everything the Titans want to be about: An honest yet skilled footballer, a respectable citizen and a homegrown talent.
Even before his Titans deal came about, he had announced his intentions to one day return to play for his beloved junior club Tweed Coast Raiders.
Gordon also spent time at Tweed Heads Seagulls in the state league before moving south in search of first grade opportunities.
