TWO teenagers who allegedly bashed a man so severely his skull was fractured and parts of his brain were visible have been denied bail.

Chase Peter Danny Brooks and Blake Knox appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Saturday where they faced multiple charges including grievous bodily harm and robbery.

The fight started after the victim approached the teens with a bottle of window cleaner.

The group allegedly struck the man on the back of the head with an unknown weapon before fleeing the scene with the man’s wallet and mobile phone.

Magistrate Donald MacKenzie denied Brooks bail while Knox did released.

Police are searching for a third man allegedly involved in the incident.

Brooks’ defence lawyer Bianca Van Heerden, of Ashkan Tai Lawyers, said her client was not the aggressor of the fight which happened near a service station and tavern on Brygon Creek Rd in Upper not apply to be DEFENCE LAWYER BIANCA VAN HEERDEN

Coomera in the early hours of Monday morning.

She said the man had approached Brooks and his two friends with a bottle of window cleaner.

It was not clear what started the fight.

“It was a fair fight but as fights do, it got out of hand,” she said.

Police released CCTV footage of the men on Wednesday.

Ms Van Heerden said Brooks would be contesting the charges.

Mr MacKenzie said the injuries were severe and it was clear that without medical intervention, the man would have died.

“He has a fractured skull and an open wound to the back of his head,” he said.

“He underwent surgery, due to parts of his brain being exposed.”

The magistrate refused bail due to the severity of the attacks. The matter is scheduled to return to court on May 3.
