Helm Bar in Surfers Paradise has rebadged as Jamaican Commonwealth Manor for the duration of the Games. The Jamaican Olympic Association has flown in renowned chef Karl Thomas to introduce Australians to the culinary delights of Caribbean food. The bar is serving Jamaican cocktails to sip while soaking up the water views.

Balter’s Currumbin headquarters has extended its hours for the Commonwealth Games. The relaxed, bricklined taproom is open to the public Monday to Thursday from 12-7pm, Friday 12-9pm, Saturday 1-8pm and Sunday 127pm, with Zicatela Mexican to munch on and a live music line-up. It’s the best place to sample their core range of beers – a pale ale , draught, pilsner and a brown ale.
