A larger round of S groundswel­l builds in from yesterday to tomorrow, generating powerful surf in the 3 to 6ft range across northern NSW, while wrapping in at much lower levels north of the border.

TODAY

Longer period S groundswel­l fills in. Solid sets to 4 to 5ft+ northern NSW south facing breaks, grading to 2 to 4ft exposed QLD breaks and wrapping at 1 to 2ft+ inside the points and bays with size depending on exposure. WIND: Early light SSW inshore 5 to 15 knots, tending SE to ESE during the afternoon.

TOMORROW

S groundswel­l slowly eases. Ranging from 3 to 4ft northern NSW south facing breaks. Mixing with E tradewind swell at about 2 to 3ft southern QLD exposed beaches and smaller along the points and inside the bays. WIND: Early light SW to SSW up to 5 knots, tending light SE to ESE 5 to 10 knots.

SATURDAY

Leftover S groundswel­l. Sets ranging from 2 to 3ft northern NSW south facing breaks.

Mixing with E windswell at similar levels across southern QLD exposed beaches and smaller along the points and inside the bays. WIND: Early light SW to SSW turning SSE 10 to 15 knots during the day.

SUNDAY

Slight E tradewind swell mixing with residual S swell. Sets ranging either side of 2ft exposed northern NSW breaks, speculativ­ely bumping up during the afternoon. Grading to 2ft or across southern QLD exposed beaches and smaller inside the points and bays. WIND: Early light SW to SSW, tending S, then SSE to SE 5 to 15 knots during the afternoon.

MONDAY

New S groundswel­l fills in. Speculativ­ely ranging from 2 to 4ft northern NSW south facing breaks. Mixing with slight E windswell at 1 to 3ft southern Queensland’s exposed beaches, grading to 1 to 2ft or near-flat elsewhere. WIND: Early light SW to SSW 10 to 15 knots, tending SE 10 to 15 knots during the arvo.
