GOLD COAST WRAP WITH LADBROKES’ TOM HACKETT

-

WINNERS

Destiva (Race 1)

Destiva went straight to the front in the opener and the veteran gelding had most of his rivals under pressure a long way from home. He never looked like getting run down and it is clear that he is at his best when he is allowed to roll along.

Captivator (Race 4) Captivator was well-backed and he proved worthy of that support. He missed the start and was forced to do a fair amount of work in the early stages of the race but he was still far too good for his rivals.

Le Mattan (Race 8)

Bridget Grylls looked like she had gotten it terribly wrong when she went for a run on the inside and Le Mattan was set to be a good thing beaten. But the Brian Smith-trained four-year-old eventually found clear running and stormed home to record a most impressive win. LOSERS

Able Fun (Race 2)

There is a fair bit of hype surrounding this horse but he is yet to show anything on the track. He received a nice run in transit right on the speed but he offered absolutely nothing when he was asked for an extra effort.

Hacksaw Ridge (Race 6) Clayton Gallagher gave Hacksaw Ridge a lovely ride and the Animal Kingdom gelding loomed up at the top of the straight but he was one of the first horses beaten and he quickly went backwards. The worst effort of his career to date.

NEXT TIME Copywriter (Race 5) This was a tough effort. She missed the start and overraced somewhat early but was still able to give a kick at the top of the straight and kept on fighting when challenged by Zinzi. The well-backed Soxey couldn’t get past her.

Walker To The Bar (Race 7) Wasn’t able to find clear running until the race was just about over but there was a lot to like about the way that he found the line in the concluding stages. A return to winning form is just around the corner.
