Paige’s story growing fast

MIAMI magician Paige Tooth is edging towards a representative debut in July after giving Gold Coast selectors seven reminders of her blossoming talent.

In just her third season of football, the 14-year-old striker scored seven goals in Robina City’s 17-0 win over Pacific Pines last Friday.

That took her season tally in the combined under-15/16 girls competition to 16 goals in five games.

Having tasted success with Robina at an Oceania tournament in NSW last year, she now has her sights set on selection in the Gold Coast under-15 team for July’s inaugural Community Cup in Mackay.

“She hasn’t played any representative football yet but we’ve been told to wait until she’s 15. She’s enjoying her soccer and that’s the main thing,” father Gavin said.

“She’s got speed. She’ll get the ball and just run around people.”

Paige adds to the growing list of Gold Coast talent able to nominate for the Bulletin’s Local Sports Star awards.

The Bulletin is on the lookout for kids who love their sport, great teams and the awesome coaches and volunteers who make it all possible.

With awards up for grabs at local, state and national levels, we’re recognising and celebrating the exceptional talents of our sporting community.
