M1 UGLINESS TO REMAIN
WHAT happened with the clean-up of the Pacific Motorway for the Commonwealth Games?
Developer and proud Nerang resident Ian McLean first made a complaint to Main Roads in October last year and was backed by many residents, along with area councillor Peter Young, about the graffiti and “savage” pruning of flora on the M1.
Main Roads has admitted its program was to “provide safe sight distances and clear overhanging vegetation encroaching on carriageways”.
Replacing that vegetation looks unlikely, with trees having been removed to “improve visibility for CCTV cameras” due to increasing accidents.
