GINA DECLINES A BOLD PROPOSAL
A WONDERFUL tale has emerged from the Commonwealth Games. Gina Rinehart, who is a major sponsor of the swimming and beach volleyball, went down to Coolangatta to watch the action. Never one to demand special treatment or seating she was delighted to find her seats were near to the action on the sand and stands. After the match as she was walking out a young man spotted her, got down on one knee and with a broad grin asked the mining magnate to marry him. Gina laughed delightedly but politely declined and then the proposer’s mate piped up, “If it helps, I know a lot about iron ore.” Aussie larrikinism is alive and well.
