Sharks face solid test

-

SOUTHPORT football manager Jarrod Field says the NEAFL side’s top-of-the-table clash with Sydney University will determine if they are up to standard or still chasing from the middle of the pack.

The Sharks and Sydney University are the only sides to have won their first three games of the season.

Sydney University have been among the strongest teams in recent years and Field said Southport’s trip to Henson Park tomorrow would give their side a true gauge on how they are playing.

“I’m pretty confident we will be competitive on Saturday so this will give us the gauge on whether we’re around the mark or we’re still in the middle of the pack,” Field said.

“We haven’t played any AFL sides yet and University have been the strongest nonAFL side over the last couple of seasons.

“It’s a good time for us to test ourselves. Confidence is up and we have been playing well.

“It’s as good a time as any to have a crack at them and find out where we are really at.”
