Magpies fill up ground

FOUR senior football sides will play at home for the first time for the Coomera Magpies this weekend.

A big pre-season recruiting drive by club officials has paid dividends, with the men’s QFA division two, reserves, colts and women’s QFWA South division two teams all set to play Alexandra Hills at Coomera Sports Park tomorrow.

A young group of players has helped propel Coomera to two wins from their opening three games in the QFA division two competition despite being forced to play on the road in the opening stages due to the Commonwealth Games.

Women’s coach Ken Lee said he would go into the team’s season opener impressed by the skill of his list.

“Their development has been immense this preseason,” Lee said.
