Aussies out to net Cup
NETBALL Australia wants to host another World Cup within the next 10 years and is looking at 2027 for a potential bid.
Australia last hosted the event in 2015 in Sydney where a world-record crowd of 16,000-plus watched Australia beat New Zealand for the title.
The event was the first world netball cup held in Australia in 25 years, with the host nation winning both.
Netball Australia boss Marne Fechner said the gap between tournaments was too long and talks are ongoing with the International Federation of Netball about hosting another event within 10 years.
The world championships are held every four years.
In Super Netball news, defending champions Sunshine Coast Lightning will take on the Queensland Firebirds after their first-round loss to the Giants at the weekend.
