Site fit for purpose

A SYDNEY — BASED family is set to raise the bar with a purpose-built fitness club in Robina, after securing a site just months after missing out on another parcel.

Angus Terry and his family have just settled on a 2300sq m site at the corner of Promethean Way and Centreline Place in the Stadium Village precinct.

The family secured the site from Robina Group and plans are being finalised for a 700sq m state-of-the-art Anytime Fitness gymnasium. It plans to open the brand-new facility in the next 12 months.

The site was purchased in a campaign that also saw the sale of an adjoining 2769sq m parcel to Melbourne-based property group Pellicano, which is planning a multi-level mixed-use development on its site.

The two parcels sold for a combined value of about $6 million. The latest deals were both negotiated by Colliers International’s Geoff Lamb and former director Darrell Irwin, who now works for Robina Group..

The Terry family, which has operated a string of highly successful car dealerships from Dubbo to Wollongong, will provide guidance to Angus Terry, who will relocate to the Gold Coast to manage the new club.

Mr Terry said his father had been critical in his decision to make the move from a career in the car industry, specialising in finance, to follow his passion for fitness.

“We were on the Gold Coast for a family holiday and he said ‘you’ve been going to Anytime Fitness for years, why don’t you buy the franchise?’,” he said.

“So together we started researching and identified Robina as the ideal location.

“We had been looking for a site for more than six months and initially had our eyes on another parcel that we missed out on. We did not want to settle for any location, we wanted one that really stood out, and Centreline Place was perfect.”
