Olympic recognition adds to special occasion

- with Joel McInnes

THE QBL opener last week was a fantastic experience with Gold Coast Rollers teams winning three from four – but the highlight was most surely the half-time presentation to Special Olympic athletes who won medals at the recent nationals.

The crowd all came to their feet and many people got a little dust in the eyes.

The Rollers are on the road this week and looking to build on their performances.

All basketball eyes turn to the Seahawks first ever home game this weekend on Saturday at the Nest in Runaway Bay.

Playing the Brisbane Capitals at 5.30pm (women) and 7.30pm (men), after the girls got the first ever win for the association on the road last week, it’s up to the boys to try and get home with what will no doubt be a rowdy crowd.

Do your best to get out and support their first ever QBL fixture.

For those of you who are couch bound at home, all is not lost – there will be a live streaming of the Rollers away game at Southern Districts tomorrow night.

This week’s junior profile is on North Gold Coast’s Katelyn Donovan. TOMORROW’S BULLETIN
