Betts warns of a Gibbs onslaught

-

STAR Adelaide forward Eddie Betts has warned fellow former Carlton player Bryce Gibbs to expect some heavy banter when they face the Blues tomorrow night.

Carlton will play Adelaide at Adelaide Oval for the first time and onballer Betts (pictured) and another former Blue, ruckman Sam Jacobs, have predicted Gibbs will be tested.

“I told him he’ll be a bit nervous,” said Betts, who is expected to play after two weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

“Obviously me and ‘Sauce’ (Jacobs) have done it before, come up against our old side.

“You’re coming up and playing against your best mates. These guys will all be at Bryce’s wedding later this year.

“They’re going to come for him.

“I don think that’ll play in his head. Bryce is the type of character that will let it go and continue on paying footy.”

Betts told Adelaide radio station FIVEaa he had been targeted by former teammate Michael Jamison after he first made the move to the Crows.

“When I first faced Carlton I knew they were going to come and get stuck into me, which they did,” he said.

“Michael Jamison actually got stuck into me, saying, ‘You’re not as good over there’.

But I’ve spoken to ‘Jamo’ (since) and we still are pretty close. It’s just footy.”
