Towers get go-ahead

- CAMPBELL GELLIE

GOLDEN twin towers could soon sprout up between Orchid Ave and Surfers Paradise Blvd.

Gold Coast Council has approved the Wanderlust project spearheaded by Sydney developer EG Funds Management.

The 71 and 56-storey towers – coated in bronze to give them a golden hue – would be opposite Chevron Renaissance.

The council first approved the project on March 28 but a negotiated plan was agreed last week after development conditions were tweaked.

Built in the shape of wings, the towers by architects Elenberg Fraser, would have 500 units, 270 serviced apartments and 400 hotel rooms.
