Beach car park thief caught in the act

A MAN has been charged with multiple stealing from car offences in Kingscliff after being being caught allegedly breaking in to a car on Thursday.

Police arrested the man after observing him break into a car at 8.45am at Marine Pde beach car park.

The arrest led to multiple charges for offences alleged to have occurred from March through to this month in the same area, where the man is believed to have stolen cash, bank cards and mobile phones.

Officers allegedly located methamphet­amine in the man’s possession at the time of arrest, and he also directed police to an area where he had stored items stolen from motor vehicles earlier that day.

He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station and charged with four counts of larceny, four counts of enter vehicle without consent, and possess prohibited drug.

He was granted conditiona­l bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court June 4.

Police are urging drivers to ensure valuables are not left in sight in vehicles which are parked and unattended.
