Lebanese go to the polls
LEBANESE voters are voting to elect the country’s first legislature since 2009, overshadowed by civil war in neighbouring Syria.
Some 583 candidates are vying for the 128-strong parliament, which is equally divided among Lebanon’s Muslims and Christians.
More than 3.6 million people are eligible to vote in the poll, according to official figures.
Official results are expected to be announced today.
The vote is seen as a test of a new electoral law, which the parliament approved in June 2017.
