Kiwis too good for Junior Wallabies
NEW Zealand have made it four from four Oceania Rugby Under-20 Championship crowns after brushing aside Australia 43-28.
After a fresh preparation format and a pair of big leadup wins, there was hope that the Junior Wallabies could get the job done on Saturday night at Bond University but they were outplayed.
Australia were down 24-7 by halftime and could not overhaul the deficit despite having a strong wind behind them for the second half.
“I didn’t think we used the wind well enough in that second half to actually gain some territory,” coach Jason Gilmore said.
Fiji steamrolled Tonga 54-0 to place third.
