Arrow’s on target

- – PETER BADEL

JAI Arrow’s hopes of a Queensland Origin debut remain intact after the ironman lock was yesterday cleared of a serious injury in a major boost for the Titans and Maroons.

Arrow shed tears in the dressingrooms and was taken to hospital after copping a knock to his ribs against Canberra on Saturday, fuelling fears he could face an extended period on the sidelines.

But scans ruled out broken ribs or a collapsed lung, with the Titans tackling machine hoping to be fit for Saturday’s clash against the Storm in the Suncorp Stadium doubleheader.

Arrow, Gold Coast’s best player this year, has battled back spasms for the past three weeks and Titans coach Garth Brennan said the fresh injury setback was not as serious as first thought.

“If it turns out to be just bruised ribs then he’s a big chance of playing (against the Storm),” Brennan said.
