GOLD COAST WRAP WITH LADBROKES’ TOM HACKETT

-

WINNERS

■ Champagne Cuddles (Race 7) Bjorn Baker has big ambitions for Champagne Cuddles this campaign and based on her Gold Coast Guineas win she will be up to the challenge. She did her best work late, running down a gallant Whypeeo, and she will take plenty of benefit from that run.

■ Oregon’s Day (Race 8) Oregon’s Day stamped herself as a genuine Doomben Cup contender with an excellent win the Hollindale Stakes. The way that she put them away late suggests that she will have no issues when she steps up to 2000m for the first time.

■ Anatola (Race 9)

Anatola has gone to another level this preparation and she could hardly have been more impressive in winning the Silk Stocking. She had to do plenty of work to find the lead early but she never looked like being run down in the final stages. She has a big-race win in her this campaign. LOSERS

■ Mr Marbellouz (Race 2)

The massive betting drift ($1.45 out to $2.30) suggested Mr Marbellouz would struggle and that proved to be the case in a big way. He looks to have had enough this time in and trainer Kevin Kemp confirmed that he would be sent for a spell.

■ River Racer (Race 9)

The Les Ross-trained mare was backed as if he would beat Anatola and Test The World in the Silk Stocking but she never really fired a shot. With two wins in 18 starts, she is probably a touch overrated and she generally does go around at under the odds.

NEXT TIME ■ Oink (Race 3) He is a very likeable horse Oink and it took a good one in the form of Divine Unicorn to deny him on Saturday. They put a gap on the rest of the field and a return to winning form is just around the corner for the Sebring gelding.

■ Lean Mean Machine (Race 5) He has raced greenly in his past two starts but there is no doubt that Lean Mean Machine is a horse with a tremendous amount of ability. The 1350m of the Sires Produce Stakes will be ideal and he remains a leading contender for the JJ Atkins over 1600m at Doomben on June 9.
