‘Text pest’ Shearin legally changes name to Moorea
A MAN once told by a magistrate that his online dating profile should come with a warning to women has changed his name.
Dan Shearin, a former cruise ship entertainer who bombarded his cheerleader girlfriend with abusive text messages before she fell to her death from the couple’s highrise apartment, is now known as Jayden Daniel Moorea after legally changing his name.
It is not the first time Shearin, who a courtroom magistrate once said should come with a dating warning similar to cigarette packaging, has changed his personal details. The Bulletin previously revealed Shearin continues to trawl the internet for women.
His profile had popped up on internet dating sites generously shaving a couple of years off his age of 45.
Shearin was the boyfriend of former Gold Coast Titans cheerleader Breeana Robinson, who plunged to her death from a Southport high-rise balcony in 2013.
He was originally jailed for menacing and harassing Breeana with a series of abusive and belittling text messages in the lead-up to her death.
However, the sentence was later reduced to a good behaviour bond following an appeal. Shearin has said that Robinson’s death was a suicide.
An inquest into Breeana’s death last year was postponed when the state coroner ordered detectives to re-examine evidence.
