Diabetes diet plan is no yolk
THERE’S some egg-cellent news for people who have changed their diet amid fears about heart disease – you no longer have to run chicken from eating eggs.
A randomised control trial, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition yesterday, found eating up to 12 eggs a week does not increase cardiovascular risk factors, even for people with type 2 diabetes.
In Australia the National Heart Foundation recommends a maximum of six eggs a week for people with type 2 diabetes, who are at greater risk of cardiovascular disease.
