Kelso closes up the farm

MULTIPLE Group 1-winning trainer Kelso Wood is expected to close his Eagle Farm stable after what was likely his last runner won at Ipswich.

Wood has been training in a partnership with long-time employee Patricia Gesler in recent years after suffering health problems.

Their horse Delago Edition ($2.50) turned in a strong staying performance to win at Ipswich yesterday.

Wood was not well enough to attend the Ipswich races but Gesler said to Sky Channel it was the stable’s last runner.

“Can I just say it has been an absolute pleasure to work with Kelso. To win this race means a lot,” Gesler said.

Wood has been in hospital with circulation problems.
