Injured skateboard­er loses fight

A GOLD Coast man hit by a car while riding an electric skateboard about a week ago has died.

The 33-year-old man was struck by a car on Robina Parkway, Merrimac, about 10.30pm on April 30, but died in Gold Coast University Hospital on Monday night.

He had a serious head injury.

Police at the time said it was believed the skateboard­er was not wearing a helmet when he was hit on the dimly lit stretch of road. The Forensic Crash Unit are continuing to investigat­e and anyone with informatio­n is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
