DANCERS’ GLORIOUS FEAT AT COMPETITION

-

A GROUP of young dancers from the National Academy of Performing Arts is celebrating after winning several categories and placing third for jazz and contemporary at the Get the Beat — International Dance Competition at Murwillumbah.

The girls, aged 12-15 years, won the lyrical, song and dance, musical theatre and broadway jazz gongs and placed third for jazz and contemporary.

NAPA director Kim Reynolds said the group had “lots of fun” competing.

“We are one of the only studios that competes in every style so it’s a big day for them with lots of quick changes,” Ms Reynolds said.

“It’s a great competition, very encouraging of the kids and supportive. The organisers are amazing and give a lot back to the dance community.”

The team will compete in the finals in September on the Sunshine Coast.
