Ironmen in Aussie side
RISING ironmen Mitchell Coombes and Ky Kinsela have been named in the Australian youth team for the Life Saving World Championships in Adelaide in November.
The pair’s performances at the recent Australian surf lifesaving titles powered their selection push, with both men named in the 12-member team.
Northcliffe’s Coombes, won three gold medals at the Aussies, including the coveted under-19 ironman title, while Kinsela picked up two team gold, playing a crucial role in Currumbin’s under-19 and open taplin relay wins.
Both Coombes and Kinsela represented Australia at the International Surf Rescue Challenge in New Zealand last year and their strong performances at Aussies won them another international cap.
Also selected for the squad is Cudgen Headland surf club and Queensland Royal Life Saving member Anthea Warne, who shows versatility across a range of events.
