Appeal on cards over lost points
SURFERS Paradise may appeal a penalty handed down to them that resulted in the stripping of five competition points.
The Gold Coast District Rugby Union defending premiers were punished for allegedly fielding an unregistered player – England sevens legend Ben Gollings – in their Round 4 match against Palm Beach Currumbin.
Surfers ran away 67-0 winners but later had the victory points and additional bonus point taken off them.
As a result, they are now eight points behind leaders Colleges heading into Round 8, despite having won just one less game than their rivals.
The Bulletin, however, understands the Dolphins are considering launching an appeal to Queensland Rugby Union to have their points reinstated.
