Perrin in supermax

-

FALLEN Gold Coast highflyer Matthew Perrin has been transferred from a prison farm to a supermax jail.

The ex-Billabong surfwear tycoon turned convicted fraudster was moved from Palen Creek prison farm near Beaudesert to high-security Wolston Correctional Centre, which houses some of the state’s worst criminals including Daniel Morecombe’s killer Brett Cowan.

It is understood Perrin’s family were told just before Mother’s Day that they would no longer be able to visit him at Palen Creek, a relaxed environment at Rathdowney with minimum security. He is serving a seven-year jail sentence for a fraud scam worth $13.5 million.

Corrective Services and Perrin’s partner Belinda Otton declined to comment on his shock move to supermax.

It is unclear if he was moved for disciplinary reasons or for his own protection. Sources said Perrin had been seen as a model prisoner — the highlyintelligent former corporate lawyer regularly helping fellow inmates with parole applications and other legal matters.
