BOOK A DAY, JUST WRITE

- PEYTON HUTCHINS

THE annual Write a Book in a Day event is fast approaching with the first group of wordsmiths starting June 1.

Write a Book in a Day is a creative and challenging team competition for adult groups and students in years 5-12.

As August approaches, Marymount College’s best writers will be preparing to write and illustrate a book, with all proceeds raised given to the Kids’ Cancer Project.

Teams of up to 10 have just 12 hours to write and illustrate a book from start to finish. To make it even more fun, unique parameters must be included in the story.

Completed books are donated to children in hospitals all across Australia.

Marymount College School Captain Amy Thompson is looking forward to competing in her fourth year of the challenge.

“The day is more than just writing and drawing – it’s about championing your peers idea’s and bringing out the best in one another,” Amy said.

“The entire day is dedicated to all the beautiful children in hospitals all over Australia.”

The Kids’ Cancer Project is a national charity with a mission to support scientific research to help children with cancer.

“We are very fortunate to be able to have an entire day to compete in something for such a wonderful cause,” Amy said.
