A series of overlappin­g pulses of S groundswel­l arrive over the course of the week, generating solid surf, mostly ranging anywhere from 3 to 6ft plus across northern NSW coasts, while wrapping at much smaller 1 to 3ft levels across exposed Queensland beaches and grading to tiny levels inside the points and bays.

TODAY

S groundswel­l up to 3 to 4ft+ exposed northern NSW breaks, grading to 1 to 2ft+ southern QLD exposed beaches and to 1ft or less inside the points and bays. WIND: Early light WSW to SSW 5 to 10 knots, tending light and variable during the day.

TOMORROW

S groundswel­l around 3 to 4ft+ northern NSW south facing breaks, rebuilding towards 4 to 6ft+ during the afternoon. Expect smaller 2 to 5ft waves along open beaches, grading to a slow 1 to 3ft across Queensland’s exposed beaches and tiny to near flat along the points and inside the bays. WIND: Light WNW to SW inshore, tending light and variable, then N to NE later.

THURSDAY

Long period S groundswel­l slowly

eases. Potential for 5 to 8ft sets across northern NSW southern exposures with long waits in between. Expect 3 to 6ft sets elsewhere, wrapping at 2 to 3ft+ exposed Queensland beaches, grading to 1ft+ or so inside the points and bays. WIND: WSW to SSW 5 to 10 knots tending light and variable to light S to SE later.

FRIDAY

Leftover S swell reinforced by new S groundswel­l during the afternoon. Sets to 3 to 4ft exposed northern NSW breaks, bumping up later. Grading to about 1 to 2ft+ across Queensland’s exposed beaches and tiny to near-flat inside the points and bays. WIND: Early lighter WSW to SSW inshore tending variable, then N to NE 5 to 10 knots during the arvo.
