BRIE’S HUNGER AS STRONG AS EVER WITH JAGS
A TWO-year battle with injury has done nothing to diminish Brie Reichman’s hunger for success as she steps up her comeback with the Queensland State Netball League’s Golden South Jaguars.
With her career stalling on the back of two major knee injuries, the 20-yearold has made the move from southwest Victoria to the Gold Coast to chase her netball dreams.
Before last week’s seasonopening 44-39 loss to Suncoast Lynx in the QSNL, Reichman’s last serious game was in Victoria in early 2015.
But with the guidance of Jags coach Paula Stuart, the mid-court star is hopeful it could be the start of something big.
“I moved up to give netball crack up here. I want to push through, see where I can go and I can only do that with the best coaches and I really think I have that with the coaches at the Jags, with Paula and Mike (Petrides, division 2 coach),” the
Burleigh Heads resident said.
“I’ve absolutely loved (the move). It’s been such a great experience already playing with the girls and just paying at a higher level of netball as well. “It certainly has been a massive challenge but I wouldn’t do it unless I believed in myself. I feel like I’m a little bit better than I was (before the injuries) because I’m a lot more mentally focused as well as physically fit.
“I’m second-youngest (in the Jags squad). At training I’m probably the biggest sponge there is out of the group.”
The Jags, who recorded just three wins in the 2017 QSNL, play Brisbane West at Logan in Round 2 tonight.
