Stimulants suspension
APPRENTICE Chris Caserta has been suspended for four months by Racing Victoria stewards on two charges emanating from a positive test to a banned stimulant.
Caserta was yesterday found guilty of providing a urine sample that tested positive to a banned substance under the rules of racing and of failing to provide a sample when asked.
He was suspended for four months on each charge with the suspensions to be served concurrently.
The Caulfield-based jockey, who has ridden in Queensland this season, was asked to provide a urine sample at Caulfield trackwork on May 7 before being tested at the Cranbourne trials that day.
His is suspension was backdated to begin on May 16, the day he was stood down from riding at Sandown, with a return date of September 16.
Caserta has been unable to handle a horse since being stood down but stewards ruled he can resume trackwork once he provides a clean sample.
