Inspiration a Range Rover of the sea

- SALLY COATES

LUST over the sleek look of a Range Rover, but would prefer it to float? Your prayers have been answered.

Whitehaven Motor Yachts will announce their newest creation this weekend at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, the 6100 Coupe Euro, which is priced around the $2.5 million mark.

To create a marine masterpiece designer Misha Merzliakov took inspiration from the colouring of a modern Range Rover mixed with the timeless luxury of European superyachts.

“I’ve drawn inspiration from the superyacht industry and Range Rover, believe it or not,” he explained.

“If you look at the exterior – the white sides, black windows and black roof – it’s like a modern, sporty Range Rover.”

Measuring just under 20m, the 6100 Coupe euro is due to launch in August.

It sleeps 6-8 people and delivers 5-star hotel-style luxury including mounted televisions in every bedroom, LED strip lighting, luxurious backlighting and wooden trim.

Priced between $2.45 and $2.65 million, Mr Merzliakov is confident Whitehaven’s newest offering will sell at least a couple over the weekend.

“Yes, the aim is to sell a few of those upon release or prior to release, and I’m quite sure we will,” he said.

“It’s definitely at the high end but there’s still plenty of clients around for this type of yacht, that’s the exciting part.”

As the 6100 Coupe euro is months from completion, Whitehaven will display the 7500 Sports Yacht Finito at Sanctuary Cove this weekend.

Originally from the Gold Coast, Mr Merzliakov will also be at the show.

“This is all quite fortuitous really, I met Whitehaven at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show last year – it’s our anniversary,” he said, laughing.
