EX-MODEL GLAD SHE GAVE UP DAY JOB TO FACE THE MUSIC

- AMANDA ROBBEMOND

THIS former Miss World Australia finalist is singing herself to success just weeks after she quit her full-time job.

Eleea Navarro, 24, left the Animal Welfare League Queensland in March.

Since then she has beaten 2200 entrants to be picked to tour across Europe for Busabout as a blogger, and this month she won the Soul/ Funk/R&B category at the Queensland Music Awards — the same platform that helped Amy Shark propel to stardom.

“I’m still amazed, it’s pretty exciting,” said Ms Navarro, a finalist at the 2016 Miss World Australia pageant, about her success, headlined by her song Without You. “For the music side of things though, it’s a great acknowlegement of my work.

“Singing is definitely my career path, but content creation and travel are my passions. It goes hand-in-hand ... combining my love of travel and music with a tour. The (Busabout) opportunity was too good to pass up.”

Ms Navarro said once she was back from her blogging tour, she would be hitting the studio to work on her coming album, to be released next year.

In 2015, Ms Navarro appeared on The Voice and in 2016 she released her second album, Lion.

Last year, she was a Gold Coast Young Citizen Australia Day award finalist.
