Tree kills news crew

AN American television news anchor and a camera operator have been killed when a tree fell on their vehicle as they were covering the effects of a rainstorm west of Charlotte, North Carolina, officials say.

WYFF News anchor Mike McCormick and photojournalist Aaron Smeltzer died after the tree hit their SUV on a highway, the station reported.

The ground was saturated from the rain, and the tree fell on them while they were driving.
